Holy Toledo, has been about 6 months or so since my last post? Life gets busy and sometimes getting myself to sit down and write gibberish sounds unsettling. Wife, kids, work, church, other hobbies and passions fill my cup of life to the brim.
The last few months I have been on a music roller coaster. I find that the music I listen to reflects my overall mood and feelings. I have found some new bands (new to me) and have many new favorite anthems for my life. Well, maybe their not anthems but these songs make me feel good and get me through each and every day.
I was not able to find all the songs on playlist.com, however I have created a playlist of most of my new favorite songs. Some of the bands are new to me and some are old with new melodies. You will find that most of them are from a folky genre. If you take my earlier statement that could mean that my overall mood has been very chill. Or, I have been trying to calm my anxious nerves.
Anyway, have fun with these songs and artists.

Oh the mess i'm in...

Over the years I have had a few ipods. None of them have lasted longer that two years. They all end the same way. I can't load new music, album art in disarray and the volume is somehow off. In order to fix some of the problems that persist on this music player I have needed to restore this piece of crap to its original state. That is... it is now empty. I have just erased 80 gb of music! It will take me months to add all those melodies back on! I don't keep those music files on my computer because there is sooo much. I have burned them to dvd's to keep space on my computer. I guess that is my problem and no one elses.
Enough pitty for me. I have posted a new playlist at the bottom of the page. I created this playlist on my ipod days before this misshap.
ENJOY, because I won't be able to for awhile.

Steel Horse

Myself, along with a few others have decided its time to start ridin' horses. Steel horses that is. There is nothing like feeling the wind blowing through your hair and the freedom the open road brings. We aren't going to go out and purchase a ten thousand dollar brand new Hog. We have chosen to start from scratch and build them ourselves. An undertaking I know but one that will be fulfilling when completed. Here is a photo of the bike that I am modeling mine after. (except for the hideous red wheels)

Digital music is one of the best things to hit this giant mass that we call Earth. My job occupation requires that I spend countless hours driving and biding projects on my computer. That being said you could gather that I have plenty of time to either go completely insane or let one of my favorite opiates of life fill my mind and let me escape from life's stresses. Not that life is a overly stressful but music has a way to ease my troubles and lighten conciseness.
I have decided to let those who care enough to read this blog get an inside listen to the tracks that hold the top ten most played on my mp3 player. Well, as many as could be found on Playlist.

I just heard about Cage The Elephant a few weeks ago. At the first listen I wasn't impressed. After the 3rd go round I was HOOKED! Here is their video, "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked".

Miniature Tigers

Miniature Tigers is an alternative rock band based in Phoenix, Arizona. The band is made up of front man Charlie Brand, Rick Schaier on drums and vocals, Darren Robinson on guitar, keyboards, vocals and Lou Kummerer on bass, vocals. The band is currently signed to Modern Art Records, a label created in a partnership between members of the band Chronic Future and Epic Records. Darren Robinson, the guitarist from the band Phantom Planet (which is currently on hiatus) will be touring with the Miniature Tigers from January to March of 2009 playing lead guitar.

Miniature Tigers is a band that I have just started to listen to. Charley Brand's vocals remind me of Ben Kweller's. Not to compare the two of their talent because they are equally different and have their own unique style.

Miniature Tigers will begin touring March 10. They will be joining Dear and the Headlights (another band out of Phoenix) through the 19th. They will then meet up W/ Bishop Allen through the 30th. Dear and the Headlights have been another of my favorate bands of 2008. Bishop Allen has been a house hold name in the Indie scene from 2003 onward but hit main stream with their appearance in "Nick and Noras Infinante Playlist". Miniature Tigers and Bishop Allen will be making a stop here in SLC, Ut @ Kilby Court March 26th. Can't wait!!!

I decided to feature an artist that I had the privilege to live by of a period of time. I also had the privilege to know some of his cousins. He is a modest artist that does not draw attention to himself or of his talent. Simon Winegar is a rare talent indeed. His paintings are mostly of landscape and are captivating to the eye. With his soft painting style one's senses are stimulated yet the conscience is eased. Please enjoy!!!

Drive-By Truckers

The southern rock of the Drive-By Truckers have reverberated through my stereo for a few years now. It has only been recently that I have been way into them. I don't know if it's their twangy country sound or the economy being in the shitter' that has been making me feel a little more like rippen' the sleeves off my football jerseys and screemin' "yee-haw". Anyway these guys can really whale! The track "two daughters and a beautiful wife" is a fave; only because I have two daughters and a beautiful wife.
I have added some photos of some mother truckers and 18 wheelers to help one get into the music and feel a bit more trashy. Enjoy!!!!

Mark Kozelek has produced many albums by his own record lable, Caldo Verde. He is the voice behind Red House Painters, self titled Mark Kozelek and Sun Kil Moon. His hypnotic voice reverberates through ones mind. I have featured songs off his "Tiny Cities" album. All the songs on this album are covers of the greatest band ever to come out of the early 90's, Modest Mouse. If you have listened to Modest Mouse you know that it is hard to pick out the lyrics of Isaac Brock.
